How to join Intelligence Bureau?

Intelligence Bureau comes under Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and it is the organisation which is involved in collecting secret information to safeguard the nation against any attack like terrorists, or any anti national elements. If you want to join Intelligence Bureau then you can apply for Assistant Central Intellgence Officer (ACIO) post. The vacancies are released from time to time by MHA. It is a Central Government job and you will be posted anywhere in India for this job.

Eligibility Criteria for IB ACIO

  • Candidate should be an Indian citizen.
  • Must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised university.
  • Age should be between 18 and 27 years.
  • Age relaxation is available for reserved categories.
  • Physically handicapped candidates are not eligible for this job.


What is the Selection Process of IB ACIO?

  • Selection will be on the basis of Tier I, Tier II, Interview, Character and Antecedent Verification and Medical Examination.
  • Tier I will be an objective type exam consisting of questions from subjects like General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Reasoning and English Language. It will be of 1 hour (60 minutes) duration and will have 0.25 negative mark for wrong answers.
  • Those who clear Tier I will be eligible for Tier II which will be a descriptive type paper having Essay writing on given topics, English comprehension and precise writing. It will be of 1 hour (60 minutes) duration and you need to score above 33% marks to get qualified for next round.
  • Only those who clear the cut off in Tier II will be called for Personal Interview.
  • On the basis of above stages the candidates will be shortlisted for Character and Antecedent verification followed by Medical Examination.

  • You need to apply online through Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) official website.
  • Just fill all the details correctly in the online application form and receive your login details on email address.
  • You need to login and complete the application procedure by filling the form and uploading documents like signature and photograph.
  • You can pay the application online through net banking or credit or debit card.
  • There is bank challan option too which is available at SBI branch.
  • Just submit the application online after checking all the details.
  • There is no need to send any hard copy of the application form.
  • Just make sure the scanned images of colour photograph and signature is in JPG/JPEG format and doesn't exceed 50kb.

  • For General and OBC: Rs. 100
  • For SC/ST and Females: No fee
