Indian Air Force has released the notification for AFCAT 2020 and those who are looking to join India Air Force as an Officer can apply for it. The recruitment is done for Ground Duty branch, Technical Branch and Flying Branch.Those who are looking for NCC Special Entry can also apply for it.
Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT 2020
Candidate should be an Indian citizen.
Flying Branch
- Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline or B.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks from a recognised institute or university and should have studied class 12 with Physics and mathematics.
- Age Limit: Anyone having age in between 20 to 24 years. There is no age relaxation available.
Ground Duty (Technical Branch)
- Educational Qualification: Should have class 12 with Physics and Maths with 60% marks and a BTech degree in any of the streams like EEE/CSE/ECE or Aeronautical or Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university or institute.
- Age Limit: 20 to 26 years of age is the required limit. There is no age relaxation available for any category.
Ground Duty Branch (Non-Technical)
- Educational Qualification (Administration Branch): Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university or Institute.
- Age Limit: Should be between 20 to 26 years. There will be no age relaxation applicable.
Education Branch: MBA/MCA or MA/MSc degree in English/Physics/
Mathematics/Chemistry/ Statistics/ International relations/ International Studies/ Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/
Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relation with a minimum of 50%
marks in aggregate of all papers put together in Post-Graduation (Minimum
two years programme). Age must be in between 20 to 26 years.

NCC Special Entry Scheme (Flying Branch): Should have an NCC Senior Wing Division 'C' Certificate along with a degree in any discipline with minimum 60% marks. Also, Physics and Maths at class 12 level with 60% marks or above. Age should be between 20 to 24 years. No age relaxation of any kind.
Height Requirements
- The minimum height required for Ground Duty Branch is 157.5 cms. There is relaxation available for Gorkhas and candidates from North Eastern regions.
- The minimum height for Flying Branch is 162.5 cms. Sitting height should be between 81.5 to 96 cm. Leg length should be between 99 to 120 cm. Thigh length should be maximum 64 cm.
Selection Procedure for AFCAT 2020
- Selection will be based on written exam and AFSB.
- You need to appear for the written test which is AFCAT which is conducted online at the designated exam centres.
- For Technical Branch there will be EKT (Written Test) too in addition to AFCAT.
- Those who clear written test will be called for AFSB stage.
- AFSB is an SSB like interview conducted by Indian Air Force for recruiting Officers.
- For Flying Branch there will be PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) in addition to all the other tests.
- After clearing both the stages with merit the candidate needs to appear for medical test before joining.
Exam Pattern for AFCAT 2020
- AFCAT: It will be multiple choices question paper of 2 hours duration, 100 questions and each question carries 3 marks. The questions will be related to General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Military Aptitude.
- EKT (for Technical Branch only): It will be a 45 minutes question paper having 50 questions and each question carrying 3 marks. You need to appear for any subject between Mechanical, Electronics and Electrical and Computer Science subjects.
- There will be 3 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark deducted for incorrect answer.
- No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
How to Apply for AFCAT 2020?
- You need to apply online through their official website.
- Just make sure you have Aadhar with you because it is compulsory to apply for it.
- You need to get yourself registered first on the website with the help of an email id.
- You will receive for password in your email inbox to login to your account.
- Just login with your email id and password.
- You need to select the post for which you want to apply and fill in all the details correctly.
- You need to upload scanned documents like signature e, thumb impression and photo of yourself.
- Select your exam centre and save the application form after checking all the details.
- You can pay the application fee online.
- After payment is successful you will receive your registration number.
- You should fill the application carefully because any incorrect details can get your application rejected.
